In this statue, the Shakya prince sits in Abhaya mudra, a gesture of blessing. The interestingly painted statue wears a red robe and features dark hair stacked as a crown. He poses on a double layered lotus pedestal and a lotus flower rises above his left shoulder. Please note that this particular flower indicates all that is pleasant and good in the Buddhist religion. A product of old Bungamati, Lalitpur, 1999. The Buddha is also worshipped by many Hindus and tribal people in Nepal and India.
