Green Tara is known as the consort of the Amoghasiddhi Buddha. Among mortals, Bhrikuti, the daughter of King Amsuverma of Kathmandu married Srong Brtsang Sgampo in 641 AD and spread the Buddhist religion in Tibet and outlying areas. She is revered by Tibetan Buddhists as the Green Tara. She is recognizable by her body color well set off by a maroon skirt. The pauju around her foot; fine necklaces, armlets, and bracelets; and the flowers on her arms are noticeable and well formed. Her right hand is in the Varada mudra, a gesture of charity, and her left hand in Abhaya mudra, a gesture of protection. A product of old Bungamati, Kathmandu Valley, 1999. Mahayana Buddhist image.
