Goddess Kali is the angry form of mother goddess Parvati. She is among the most important deities linking the human rage and anger in the process of human development and balance. This sculpture portrays Kali in great anger. In order to stop her from ending all creation, Lord Shiva lies on the floor and in her rage, she has stepped upon him. Her tongue protruding, she holds a severed human head, a khadga sword, a trident, and a bowl of blood. She wears a garland of skulls and a skirt of human hands.
