The son of Shiva and Parbati (daughter of the Himalayas), Kumar sits mounted on a peacock, his steed. The well carved statue shows great details of the quills and the crest of the peacock, note Kumar's jewelry, his crown, and well-shaped body. The lotus pedestal signifies all that is good in the deity. Crafted by artists with a long family tradition in woodcraft. A product of Bungamati, Kathmandu Valley, 1999. Hindu image. |
