President of Nepal Photographic Society, Sudarshan Karki along with the director of the University of Wisconsin, Nepal Study Program, Pamela Ross, inaugurated the "Elizabeth Lance photo exhibition" at the Spiny Babbler art gallery on April 24 at Kupondol Height.

Elizabeth Lance came to Nepal under the University of Wisconsin foreign country study program seven months ago. She has been taking black and white images and presents 41 images of people at the Spiny Babbler art gallery until April 30, 1999. Most of the photos have been developed by Lance herself. In his talk Sudarshan Karki said that many people in the country do not yet take photography as a pure arts form and that the Nepal Photographic Society is working to promote the art medium. Pallav Ranjan, founder of the Spiny Babbler art and literature organization, also spoke on the occasion and praised the work of Ms. Lance and talked about the organization's upcoming efforts to present the writers and photographers of Nepal through its publications and art gallery.
