Pallav
Ranjan’s love poem, "fire and ashes" is his latest publication,
this one brought out in a slim, attractive black and white format
[with cover art] by Param Meyangbo.
The
poem, in twenty-seven lyrical stanzas, is dedicated to … Para on
her birthday.
It is not merely an exquisitely crafted poem, evident even
to the non-poetic minded; it is almost a hymn of deep affection
and beauty.
Though
no price has been mentioned, Ranjan’s "Love Poem" should
not merely be prized by lovers of poetry but, one would like to
believe, help place Nepal on the modern English literature map.
One
awaits more work from him, including not only translations from
Nepali literature but more of his original creations. Perhaps the
English literature department of TU might consider including Pallav's
work in their roster, if it has not already done so.
