Ten
young writers participated in a workshop,
"Profile Presentation Ethics and Techniques"
by Spiny Babbler in its Reading Room on
May 24, 2003. The workshop, led by Pallav
Ranjan, is to be based on personal experiences
and focused on presentation of information
that is collected through interviews, books,
and other methods. The need for such a workshop
is based on the activities of a Spiny Babbler
19 member research and documentation team.
"Honest,
strong, and analytical portrayals based
on research and insight need the learning
of good presentation techniques," commented
the workshop leader. "The process of writing
and the process of gathering information
are separate processes. A good writer needs
to identify them as separate and work accordingly."
Openings,
anecdotes and their placement, creation
and maintenance of an effective storyline,
and memorable endings were discussed and
practiced at the workshop. The paper "The
Early Years of Nepalese Literature and Bhanu
Bhakta Acharya," was used to serve as primary
example to feature a poet. Nucche Bahadur
Dangol was featured as an example on covering
a musician's life.
